This contemporary variation on the gazebo concept is the centerpiece of this civic plaza which is located with access to the light rail system at the intersection of Lehman Avenue & Market Street in West Valley City, Utah.  This plaza is unique because the light rail transit system enters and intersects with the plaza.  Shown here is the sculptural shade canopy with integrated lighting, which is used for civic events and concerts.  The platform is designed with a small water feature which flows from the top step to the bottom.  (In this view, the water feature is not visible, as it is located the other side of the handicap accessible ramp leading up to the platform.)  I worked as the artist to design the shade canopy for this site, collaborating with Stanley Consultants, of Denver, Colorado.
