A PATH FOR WATER 2019

Phoenix, Arizona, USA

6th Street and Butler Drive neighborhood pocket park, Phoenix, Arizona. 2019.

Stainless steel, integrated lighting.

25’ H x 8’ D

Commissioned by the City of Phoenix.

Iconic, columnar sculpture motivated by the complex relationship between nature, humankind and the deserts most precious resource—water.  The hollow cutout pattern of the conic sculpture is inspired by the shadow patterns of native plant life. A seemingly fluid ribbon of steel then swirls around the column and extends into the air representing a winding flow of water in combination with illuminated blue LED light in the evening. The evolution of light throughout the 24-hour framework creates continually shifting shadow patterns and layers of interest both day and night
