Cast aluminum on Azure Blue wall
500 × 300 × 8 cm (17’ x 9’ x 3”)

Strands is a sculptural meditation on connection, resilience, and the strength that emerges through interdependence. Inspired by the humble fiber, the work reflects on how individual elements, fragile on their own, gain tensile power when twisted, braided, and brought into relation. Drawing from the visual language of rope and cord, the sculpture becomes an architectural expression of unity, where difference is not erased but woven into a shared structure of endurance and trust.

Installed as a cast aluminum relief, Strands evokes both movement and stillness, suggesting lines cast across distance, gestures of connection, and the act of deliberate weaving that defines cultural exchange. The work situates itself within the theme of confluence, where individual stories converge into collective meaning. The braided forms speak to migration, memory, and belonging, offering a quiet yet powerful reminder that resilience is not rigid but adaptive, formed through the intertwining of many paths into one continuous line.

Fabrication to be completed by Bollinger Atelier, Phoenix, Arizona.
